“School Spirit”
After school programming: Beginning in September 2008. Survey now to
find out needs.
• Program partnership with community centre - conversations to begin to
now to determine possibilities for Sept.2008
• Parent volunteers
• School council to supplement costs of after school programs, police
checks - done
• Diversity of activities to suit children; for example, knitting clubs,
homework club – need consistency in offering these programs – in progress
currently
• Language programs; evening French language conversation circles
In-school Programming
Greater integration of sports & activities into school day – in progress

• Intramural teams, chess clubs, poetry clubs
• Phys ed equipment – school uniforms
• Partner with other schools in the community to offer programming, share
space and expertise, build relationships: involve staff volunteers, permission
forms, possibly other boards (TCDSB)
• Volunteers to bring students as spectators to sporting events
• Hopscotch, four square games on pavement – different colours to avoid
confusion with track lines
• Children’s playground / yard improvements – outdoor classroom behind
gym

• Helping kids see their role as Canadians, understand about power and
responsibility as citizens to do their part for the environment
• Environmental Stewardship connects to global citizenship – care for
the planet and it’s citizens
• Energy conservation / energy generation – schools must be involved in
saving energy and even producing energy board-wide
